Celebrating St Francis of Assisi at St John Rigby College
A special visit to St John Rigby Sixth Form College in Wigan, where our animals helped students and staff mark a celebration inspired by the patron saint of animals.

A special day for the college community
Emily's Mini Farm was delighted to visit St John Rigby Sixth Form College in Wigan with a selection of our smaller animals and two of our friendly pygmy goats.
As a Catholic college, St John Rigby marks a variety of religious occasions throughout the year. This visit formed part of a celebration of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, whose example reminds us of the importance of kindness and respect for all living creatures.
Meeting the animals
Students and staff took time out of their day to meet our animals, ask questions and enjoy some hands-on encounters. The rabbits proved popular, while our pygmy goats brought plenty of personality to the outdoor animal area.
It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the experience and sharing an interest in the wellbeing and care of animals.
Learning, kindness and community
Visits like this show how animals can bring a community together, whether as part of a religious celebration, a curriculum activity or a college wellbeing event. We're grateful to St John Rigby College for inviting us to be part of the occasion.
